The metaverse is often described by the large tech companies as a virtual universe or collective shared space where users can create, interact with, and experience a variety of digital environments. One of the good descriptions of what metaverse is was from a previous senior colleague at one of the global tech companies, who really broke it down for me in simple terms, was that through the metaverse, people would be able to socialize, attend events, engage in commerce, and carry out a range of other activities within a fully immersive digital environment.

This concept has gained a lot of attention in recent years due to advancements in virtual and augmented reality technologies, as well as the growing popularity of blockchain, artificial intelligence, robotics, IoT and other decentralized technologies that could potentially support the creation and management of virtual assets within the metaverse. This revolutionary technology has the potential to transform the way we live, work, and interact with the world around us. It is innovative, efficient, and seems very disruptive, challenging existing norms and pushing the boundaries of what we know as possible. It is a platform that makes things user-friendly, intuitive, and accessible, making it easy for people to adopt it and use to improve their lives.
